General information about Namibia Namibia is a country situated on the southern part of Namibia. There are various people / tribes, living in Namibia. Ranging from Oshiwambo speaking people,himba's, herero's, nama's, damara's, the san people, kavango, caprivians, coloured and whites.

Weather conditions The weather around Namibia mostly varies according to the seasons of the year. On average, its mostly warm and dry. Rainfall accure between November and March.
The coastal area is the one mostly partly cloudy and cool and the highest rainfall is recorded around the Kavango region.
Currency Namibia uses Namibia Dollars (N$) equivalent to South African rands. 1 US$ is approximately 7 namibia dollars (check exchange rates). Namibian dollars can also be changed to Rands without commission in Namibia, the rates are similar.
The use of credit cards is allowed at various accommodations, markets and restaurants, preferably Visa's and Mastercards. Cash would be preferable country wide.
For fuel (petrol or diesel), its advisable to make use of cash or a petro card. credit cards are not allowed at filling stations.
Banks can exchange travellers cheques into Namibian dollars (N$) for a commission. Cash ATM's are at most available country wide on a 24 hour base.
Dress Code
Namibia's climate is mostly hot during the day and cool during the night. So it is advisable to wear a hat and sunglasses. Wearing sun block would be an added advantage.
Safety
It is advisable to lock you car at all times.
Valuable properties should be out of site when they are in the car. This avoids temptations.
Beware of purse / handbag snatchers.
When driving at night beware of wild animals on the roads. especially kudu's.
