We have a lot of Safari's / National parks in Namibia. There are various ways on how you can plan to go on tour.
You can either book to go as a group on tour and visit some of the places displayed below, or rent a car which you can use to drive around according to your wishes.
CENTRAL REGION
Windhoek
Namibia's capital city. Situated in a basin between the Khomas Highlands and the Auas and Eros mountains. It plays a huge role in the namibian history. Formerly knowns as Ai Gams.
Waterberg Plateau Park
Good natured, mostly crowded with bird. Black and white rhino's can be found at this location. Hiking is also possible as there all trails. So get fit.
AfriCat Foundation
Africat conservers the cat family. Lions, Cheetah, Leopard and much more. Allow you to take a closer view, compared to a National Park.
Okahandja
An important historical town for the Herero people.This town is situated between Otjiwarongo and 60 KM north of Windhoek. If you are looking for a collection of sculptures or wood carvings, this is your town.
Northern Namibia
Etosha National Park
This is were the plot thickens, Etosha National park is our top priority. It's area covers about 23,000 square kilometres. This national park allows drive through's, were you have an option of seeing over lots of different types of animals in the wilderness. Ranging from predators, scavengers, birds and herbivores.
Epupa Falls
One of our countries attractive places, situated in the district of Kaokoland, which connects with the longest river (Kunene) in Namibia.
Epupa waterfall is wonderfully looking, not to talk about the excellent weather. The falling water looks excellent as they fall powerfully. This is were the hydro electricity is generated.
Its a good hiking location.
Brandberg
Namibia's tallest mountain, 2573 metres high. This mountain is famous for its height, excellent artistic paintings by the san people of Namibia and its natural beauty.
Kaokoland
Famous for its fabulous mountain scenes, kaokoland is a location of the himba tribe people. Himba's are famous for their traditional dressing code and special otjithe oil, which they apply on (looks interesting). Animals such as elephants and giraffe can be seen strolling around.
Kavango District
This side lies the countries second longest river (Kavango River), excellent climate conditions. The river forms the borders between Namibia and Angola. The Kavango tribe lives this side and they speak silozi and oshikwangali languages. Fishing, maize and surghum cultivaion is an important aspect of their life. The Kavango Regional people are led by traditional chiefs. Animals such as Hippo's, Elephants and crocodiles can be seen in this region.
Katima Mulilo
Close to the Zambian boarders, Katima Mulilo is loved for its good climate conditions, close to one of the countries rivers ( Zambezi ).
Otjikoto Lake
Situated close to Tsumeb. Its a wonderful and largest natural lake in Namibia. It is said to have deep connections with underground rivers. Dont forget to make a turn when coming from Etosha National Park.
SOUTHERN REGION
Ai-Ais Park
The Ai-Ais Conservation Park is situated at the finest natural parts of Namibia. At this park, there are natural hot springs, and the fish river runs close to it. Mostly favourable during the the rainy season or a few months after (while the water in the fish river canyon is running). The fish river canyon and the Orange river( which forms the borders between Namibia and South Africa is also close).
Fish River Canyon
Situated on the lower parts of the Fish River. This is considered one of the largest Canyon's in the world. Excellent view. Hiking can also be possible around the lake.
Kolmanskop
Close to the town of Luderitz and known as a ghost town. This is because the last people to live in that location moved in the fifties. Used to be a diamond mine ages ago before diamonds ran out.
Namib-Naukluft Park
The park's main attractions are Sossusvlei and the Naukluft Mountains. Situated at the centre of Namib Desert and the Naukluft Mountains. Rare plants and animal species can be found at this Park. One of the Namibian symbolic tree The Welwitschia Mirabilis can be found this side too.
Sossusvlei
Sossusvlei is made up of the highest sand dunes in the world (its height is approxiamtely 400 metres long). They are situated in the deep desert.Hiking would be at its advantage. Dont get scared, you can drive through, 4 wheel drivers might be a necessity.
COASTAL REGION
The Namib Desert
One of the oldest deserts in the world.It is estimated to be between 80 and 250 kilometres wide. Its trademark rust red dunes. Namibia's famous plant, the Welwitschia Mirabilis, nara plants can be found. There are tall dunes at Sossusvlei area. Swakopmund, Walvis Bay and Lüderitz are the towns close to the desert.
Cape Cross
Named after a two metre high cross. This is where the first Europeans landed (Under Diego Cao, after they were sailing), they put up the Cape Cross as their sign. The cross was later removed in 1893 and sent to Germany.
Lüderitz
Named after Adolf Lüderitz, discovered in 1883 by Heinrich Vogelsang. It started as a trading post. Diamonds were later discovered by a nama man Zacharia Lewala in 1909 who used to work on the railway. Also a harbour town.
Skeleton Coast Park
Consists of canyons, dunes and good looking mountains.
Swakopmund
Namibia's top holiday destination. All beach / coastal activities happen this side. Respected by both the young and old. Perfect weather conditions.Good accommodations.
Walvis Bay
Harbour town in Namibia, cargo vessels, fishing boats. Have a chance to visit the sea, dolphin cruises. A stroll will be fabulous (perfect weather) or experience a desert golf course. |
